SAGINAW, Mich. — The Saginaw Fire Department is offering high school students in the city a window into a career as a firefighter.
The Fire Department Youth Camp program is open to all Saginaw students between the ages of 15 and 17. The program runs from Aug. 24-28. Saginaw Fire Department Engineer Chedrick Greene has taken the lead on the educational outreach program, intended to introduce Saginaw youth to firefighting as a potential career path.
“It’s going to be pretty hands-on,” Greene said. “I think it’s going to be good exposure for a lot of these kids.” The week-long camp puts participants through several training scenarios that firefighters may experience in their profession.
